The China Daily has published stories by three journalism students written while they were on the Africa reporting trip in May.
Pang Yanjie, a graduate student, wrote a story about the life of refugees in Northern Uganda, which was published on June 3, 2008. On June 11, the paper published a story by Li Yan about the Ugandan government’s attempt to prevent HIV infections in young girls and a story by Gong Jietong about Ugandan women who were kidnapped as war slaves in their youth. Li and Gong are juniors.
Led by Professor Peter Arnett and teacher John Noonan, the reporting group spent three weeks in Uganda and Ghana in May writing stories, taking photos and shooting video.
