Dr. Yan Meining, Associate Professor
Dr. Yan received her Ph.D. degree in law from the University of Essex in 1998. She also obtained a Master of Laws degree from the Queen’s University of Belfast (1995), a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London (1993) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hong Kong (1979).
Dr. Yan became a journalist in 1981. She worked in various print and broadcast media in Hong Kong including TVB News, Cable News and the RTHK. For about a decade, she researched and produced television news features and documentaries for News Magazine, Tuesday Report, Pearl Report, and Hong Kong Connection.
Dr. Yan joined academia in 1999 teaching media law and ethics, media policy and regulation, advanced reporting and writing, and long form broadcast journalism. She also published widely in academic journals on media law and policy topics in the U.S., the U.K., Australia and Hong Kong. She began teaching at Shantou University in September 2008.
