We are a young J-school in a far corner of China. But our students have plenty of opportunities to travel and see the world. Our India reporting trip is a perfect example of how we turn the world into our classroom.
India is our biggest neighbor. But we don’t know each other well. Our students wrote stories that helped China better understand India. In return, we also learned about the challenges of foreign reporting and the limits of our own knowledge.
I’m proud to say everyone we met in India was impressed by our students. All of them now know there is a J-school in Shantou University in China and they are hard at work training the global journalists of tomorrow.
