theWarehouse crew were assigned to cover the Opening of Canada Day@STU.
This 1′30″ video covers the opening speeches and two keynote addresses by guests from the government and Canada.
The Warehouse was assigned to shoot the keynote speeches in the STU Library Lecture Hall and provide the feed to the Network Center to stream it live to all computers in the campus. Here are some shots captured with my camera that day. Click here to download the slide show.
Following the 2008 Malaysia General Election Coverage, the team at theWarehouse have been working on the idea of long term reportage work on the country’s democratic process.
This year, we have decided to pick a group of freshmen who have proven themselves in their class works. Without further ado, here is the list.

This is the time of the year, where graduates bit farewell to the school and join the world outside.
Wang Shuai led photography teacher Donna De Cesare to the roof of the temp-housing area. Prof. Donna from University of Texas in Austin went to Sichuan to conduct a 10-day workshops. She taught students basic knowledge of photography via the trip.

Wang Shuai: “I dream to make a documentary about the earthquake.”
theWarehouse HAS BEEN supporting the production of an ongoing project that documents the life and times of the people of Sichuan post 512 earthquake. Su Yaxian was sent to Sichuan to photo- and videograph the people who are working hard to rebuild their lives there. Last week, Texas University photography teacher Donna De Cesare visited Sichuan with members of theWarehouse to give them a photography workshop. AMBER CHUNG has the story.

FIVE NEPALI STUDENT LEADERS, dubbed as the future politicians of Nepal with different political affiliation, visited theWarehouse on June 1st. Though brief, we struck a fruitful discussion with us. The tour was organised by former J-school English writing teacher Binod Bhattarai.
Sam Hui turned the discussion with the students to a discussion on communication, dwelling on using the right tools for the right crowd to communicate political messages.

Being a lab rat, Sam Hui could hardly resist being an Apple salesman, demonstrating a quick-and-easy workflow to produce AV content using the iLife suite that does not require much production skills as the visiting students are not communication nor journalism majors. Sam Hui also introduced the Final Cut Studio suite for professional productions.
Sam Hui advised the students to know more options that can help them to communicate their ideas to their audience and always put themselves in their audience’s shoes when picking the communication tool to convey their messages.
J-school documentaries to enter the 2009 Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival.
TOKYO, JAPAN: THIS MORNING, Jeremiah Foo visited Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival’s Tokyo Office to submit 2 films for consideration in this year’s festival presentations.
The two films, produced by Jeremiah Foo and Sam Hui, were August Beijing directed by Li Yang, and They Are The Opposition co-directed by Effect Chen and Destin Chen. Though theWarehouse initially planned to submit 4 films for consideration, circumstances revolving production schedule has affected the completion of two other titles.

Package 3: Bridging the Nanao Island.
