The Washington DC internships sponsored by the Li Ka Shing Foundation provides for two Shantou University students to spend three months working in the  offices of Policy Impact Communications (www.policyimpact.com) in Washington D C. All expenses and a living stipend will be provided by the Foundation.

The internships are designed to give the students an opportunity to learn the workings of the US federal government while living in an English language atmosphere.  Policy Impact is a “lobbying” organization that provides representation for corporations in their dealings with the U.S. government. The Shantou students will join a group of students from the Hinckley Institute of the University of  Utah. The interns will be housed in a community apartment in Washington. They will work as researchers, and make contacts with Senators, Congressional representatives, as well as the many agencies of the US government. In addition, interns will also have the opportunity to experience the many sides of life in the US capitol city.
