　　　The representation of what has been called the 'third world' has largely

been done through white western photographers and western media. This grossly

misrepresents these peoples, relegating them to icons of poverty. Identifying

themselves as the 'majority world', photographers of these regions have taken

it upon themselves to challenge these stereotypes. The presentation by Shahidul 

Alam, the pioneer of this movement, provides the context to this struggle.

Shahidul（夏伊都尔-阿兰姆）个人中文简介：
   世界知名的摄影大师阿兰姆出生于孟加拉，他曾在伦敦学习并且教授化学，并获得了伦敦大学博士学位。

   夏伊都尔-阿兰姆于1980年开始了摄影生涯。1983年他获得了伦敦艺术理事会的哈维-哈里斯最佳摄影奖。

   之后他担任孟加拉国摄影协会会长，并连任3届。1989年，他创立了Drik图片库（梵文义为：视野）和

   南亚摄影研究院Pathshala。他还是Chobi Mela亚洲摄影节的理事。同时他还担任诸多摄影比赛的评委，

   例如夏伊都尔`阿兰姆曾担任4届世界新闻摄影大赛（World Press Photo）的评委，同时他也是世界新

   闻摄影大赛史上第一位非白人评委。

   1998年夏伊都尔-阿兰姆被授予安德烈`弗兰克基金会奖和霍华德·查布尼克奖，同时他还获得了孟加拉

   国摄影协会荣誉奖学金。随后的2001年因其对摄影事业的特殊贡献，他被授予英国皇家摄影协会荣誉奖

   学金。他目前供职于尤金-史密斯纪念基金咨询委员会和国家地理协会。同时担任英国桑德兰大学客座教

   授以及美国加州大学洛杉矶分校讲师。
 
   夏伊都尔-阿兰姆还是Majority World创会主席，这是一个自发形成的国际性兴趣组织，旨在为本土

   的摄影师以及摄影机构和大多数国家的图片收藏进入国际影像市场提供一个平台。
